For this project you will be creating an ABC book based on an AR novel that you have read. The book that you use for this project must be a chapter novel or a nonfiction biography. If you are unsure if your book is suitable, bring your book to Ms. Tice to check.
1. Your ABC book should be 23 pages long. It can be made with white copy paper (no notebook paper) and should be written or typed in easily read ink.
2. One page should be the title page and include the title of your novel, the author, your name, class period, an an appropriate illustration for a book jacket.
3. The other 22 pages of your ABC book must include:
I understand that some letters are difficult to think of a word for, so you are only required to have 22 letters. See the chart below for clarification. Some boxes have multiple letters in it, that means that you should choose one of those letters to include in your ABC book. The letters that are alone must be included in your book.

- The alphabet letter, which should be bold, highlighted, or underlined.
- A word that starts with your letter that is somehow representative of your novel.
- A picture that goes along with your word. The picture can be drawn, cut from a magazine, or printed and should have color.
- 2-4 sentences that explain why your chose that word. Your explanation must be supported with a specific example from the text or clearly show the association.

Rubric: There are four categories that will be graded.
- Completeness (30 points) - Include a letter, picture, and explanation for 22 words. Title page has title of book, author, student's name, period, and an illustration.
- Conventions (30 points) - All punctuation, capitalization, spelling, grammar usage, and sentence structure rules have been followed.
- Neatness (10 points) - Work has been clearly written or typed in easily read ink.
- Quality (30 points) - Support your alphabet word choice with a specific example from the text that fully explains why you chose that word to represent your novel.
- Extra Credit: Creativity (5 points possible) - If your project shows exceptional creativity you have the opportunity to earn extra credit.
If a project is late, 10 points will be taken off for every day after the due date. After October 18, 2013 no late work will be accepted.
